This is the first video of a series I want to do where I go through the books I have on my bookshelf related to Japanese Calligraphy, Aikido, and Zen. I get a lot of questions about what books are out there that are good for beginners. Its hard to recommend a certain book, because, there really isn’t a lot out there. So, instead, I decided to do a few videos where I tell you the books that I have the have inspired and helped me.
On this video I talk about one of the first books I bought on the subject: Kanji & Kana A handbook of the Japanese Writing System. Its not a calligraphy book, it is a Kanji dictionary. But I think having a Kanji dictionary is really important for learning Kanji stroke orders, readings, and meanings.
