I got a tweet from Alvaro asking if I could make a video on how to brush the ENSŌ or Zen Circle. Truth be told, I don’t really brush a lot of Zen circles. So, I thought this would be a great opportunity to not only show you how to brush the ENSŌ, but also for me to practice it as well.
Two things to keep in mind when brushing an ENSŌ is to brush it with one stroke and one breath. The ENSŌ represents the complexity of Zen. The circle is the simplest of all shapes, yet it is really hard to draw perfectly. The circle represents infinity, emptiness, and fullness.
Make sure to fully extend your KI when brushing the ENSŌ!
